dark water

lost in the landscapes of my imagination,
i stooped to drink from a dark water
lifting its secrets to my lips,
while the echoes of another time drifted by.

somewhere a raven flies, calling me Home,
someone from a distance, it seems,
dark and unseen, hidden by veils
of ancient forest, the smell of wet leaves.

i know that voice and that scent,
familiar as my own tongue
or the land of my childhood,
and smiling, I stopped, to listen.

So many people running around the planet pretending to be who they are not, for the sake of their parents, or their partners, or their children, or their neighbors… but it’s fake. Life is too short to be spent not being Real. Otherwise, what’s the point, who are we really fooling but ourselves?

I won’t kid you. It isn’t easy to be Real. It’s hard to take the masks off and to be who you really are. Even harder to admit your own faults, even to yourself. To shed tears openly and not worry about what anyone else thinks. But at least, it’s Real.
